VG 40 bitumen, or Viscosity Grade 40 bitumen, is a bitumen solution that is classified by one of its key properties: viscosity. It is primarily composed of asphaltenes, resins, and oil. This composition contributes to the bonding strength, fluidity, flexibility, and solid structure of bitumen.
VG-40M is a modified VG grade bitumen solution designed by ITPL for heavy-duty road construction. It is designed with greater absolute viscosity at 60˚C under IS 1206 (Part-2) to overcome issues of rutting observed at higher temperatures. The product can be used in DBM/BC layers.
