ITPL inaugurates its greenfield Bitumen Derivatives Plant in Gummidipoondi near Chennai, Tamil Nadu, marking a major milestone in India’s road infrastructure ecosystem
Gummidipoondi, 28 Nov, 2025: IndianOil Total Pvt. Ltd. (ITPL) — the joint venture between Indian Oil Corporation Ltd. (IOCL) and TotalEnergies Marketing Services S.A.S, France inaugurated its Greenfield Bitumen Derivatives Plant in Gummidipoondi near Chennai, Tamil Nadu on 20th November 2025. This state-of-the-art facility marks a significant step toward strengthening India’s supply of high-quality, technologically advanced bitumen derivatives to meet the growing demands of the nation’s booming infrastructure sector.

A Strategic Addition to India’s Road Construction Value Chain
The newly commissioned Chennai plant is purpose-built for manufacturing Polymer Modified Bitumen, Crumb Rubber Modified Bitumen, Natural Rubber Modified Bitumen and Bitumen Emulsions. Designed with advanced automation, stringent quality control, and global safety standards, the plant enhances ITPL’s ability to supply premium, consistent-quality products across southern India.
The facility will play a key role in supplying materials for NHAI national highways, state highway programs, major city infrastructure works, industrial corridors, and other critical development projects in the region.
